SWITZERLAND CHATEAU D ‘OEX INT’L BALLON FESTIVAL & MUSEUMS

The International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Château-d'Œx is an annual event held in Switzerland every January, renowned for attracting many hot air balloons and aeronauts from around the world. The festival is a major tourist attraction, with activities including balloon rides, shows, mass ‘glows’ and ascents and we are there for two full days.

The region's microclimate makes it an ideal location for ballooning, and it has earned the title of the "capital of hot air ballooning".

Château-d'Œx was also the departure point for the Breitling Orbiter 3, the first balloon to complete a non-stop, round-the-world trip in 1999.

We also visit twoof the best, and biggest, museums you will see anywhere: the big Swiss Air Force Museum at Dubendorf ; and the huge Museum of Transportation in Lucerne.

Travel in-country is by 9-seater mini-van, 5 persons + TM in a van, each one driven by one of our well-travelled and experienced Tour Managers.
